Precautions and Contraindications

These exercises are designed to create more balance, stability, and ease of movement. To take this class/workshop, you should have a reasonable degree of flexibility and endurance.

As with any physical activity, including starting a new exercise regimen, there is a risk of injury and strain so speak with your physician to make sure that you are able to participate safely.

Because some exercises in the Sustainable Body method could aggravate certain pre-existing conditions (including traumatic memories that might arise), it is especially important to first obtain the recommendation of your physician if you suffer from any of the following:

  • Any weight-bearing restrictions

  • Recent fracture, sprain; other limiting issues

  • Severe kyphosis (rounding of the upper back)

  • Severe scoliosis (S-curve of the spine)

  • Shoulders/hips that easily dislocate

  • Dizziness or vertigo spells

  • Recent heart attack or stroke

  • Recent surgery

  • Late-term pregnancy

  • Trauma history/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Any other chronic medical or mental illness
